Quests
Quests are missions that are given to the character by various NPCs that inhabit the world of Iris.
Starting quest
Most of the times to start a quest you have to visit a NPC. Those which have a task for you will have a blue square Q symbol hovering above their heads:
The quest name is given in yellow letters and a yellow "Q". Click on the name to learn more. A quest window appears:
Beside the NPC dialog the quest window gives information over:
- type of quest - read more about the types in the section below
- level requirement - range of levels at which you can acquire and perform this quest
- any reward or rewards you receive after completion of the quest. The usual rewards include experience, skill points or gold. Some quests will give you potions, items, titles or affinity.
Sometimes, when you reach a certain level, a small scroll icon will automatically pop up on the right edge of the screen. Mouse over the icon to view a list of new quests. Those are so called pop-up quests. In the example on the right there are 4 of them available. The pop-up quests have to be accepted before you log off or change a map. If not accepted, they will disappear until you level up again. Be careful, if you outlevel a pop-up quest, it will not appear again. |
After accepting a quest a new windows appears on the right side of the screen:
It shows your progress bar. Each time you kill required monster or acquire a quest item, the progress will be updated. Once the quest is completed, it will be marked with a red circle. The progress bar can hold up to 6 quests.
Sometimes a quest requires you to obtain a certain item from monsters. It does not necessarily have to be dropped or automatically placed in your inventory after each kill. Every now and then you have to continue killing monsters of the same kind until the object you are looking for finally drops and is scored in the progress bar. That is entirely up to chance.
Note: those 'quest drops' cannot be sold or thrown away. The only way to get rid of them is to finish the quest.

In you personal Quest book you can find a complete overview of all quests you have accepted and all quests that have already been completed but not yet turned in. To access Quest book press L or L+Alt keys.
The left side of the book lists accepted and completed quests, the right side gives you details on the selected task. Checking a square next to the quest name will add it to the progress bar.
There are three additional buttons under the quest description:
The Quest book can hold up to 16 quests, both active and completed.

Ending quest
The NPC at which you can collect your reward will have a blue square A sign above its head:
To finish a quest chose its name and when a new window pops up, click Completed button. Sometimes the quest offers Optional Rewards. You have to select one before you proceed:
The items will appear directly in your inventory.
Finding quests
The available quests (Q) and NPCs that offer a reward for completed task (A) are visible on you map and NPC scroll list:
Note: Some of the quests are glitched and the Q symbol does not show neither on map nor above the NPC. The quest is still available, just talk to the NPC.
Canceling and restoring a quest
You can always end the quest early by giving up on it. Simply click on Abandon button in your quest book. A confirmation window appears:
If you confirm your choice, the quest will be deleted and, unless its a repeatable quest, the NPC will no longer offer it to you.
If you didn’t outlevel the quest range you can always restore a canceled quest for a fee. Visit Crean in Juno and chose Restore Canceled Quests option:
If you didn’t outlevel the quest range you can always restore a canceled quest for a fee. Visit Crean in Juno and chose Restore Canceled Quests option:
Crean will restore all abandoned quest at once and the gold will be automatically deducted from your inventory.
Things to remember
- your quest book can hold up to 16 quests, both active and completed
- EXP and SP rewards can be boosted with potions, events and buffs up to 500% - check the EXP and SP boosting pages for rules on limits and stacking of boosts
- normal and party quests cannot be completed in a fellowship
- a fellowship quest is completed when any of fellowship members in range completes the required task
- quests have to be taken within specific level range, if you outlevel the range the quest will be irretrievably lost
- quests that are taken, but not completed can be finished up to 4 levels above the level range
- completed quests can be turned in up to 10 (?) levels above the level range
- daily quests reset at midnight EST
- TIP: It is better to save high reward quests for levels that are more difficult to grind and then turn them in on one set of potions. If the quest you are saving is part of a quest chain, be sure you save the last one.
