Dratan Castle Siege
[OLD GUIDE COPY]
Dratan Castle Siege is a contest to decide the owner of the Pyramid which is located in southwestern Dratan. The first time the Pyramid was up for grabs, there were only attackers. At this point in time, however, the Tombs on all servers are owned, so for each siege there are both attackers and defenders. The owners (guild masters and guild advisors) of the Pyramid get to control the settings for the Tomb of Theos and the owner (guild master) gets to control the siege settings. Read on to find out more about these roles and how the siege actually happens.
Important Note: Any guild can only own one castle. This means if your guild won the Merac Castle Siege, you can only participate in Dratan Castle Siege as defenders, and vice versa. Registration is only available on the forth Subsever!

Attacking
All guilds except the defending guild take on the role of attackers and all compete for ownership of the Pyramid.
Attacking guilds must first destroy an Eye of Barrier to open the outside gates. Once the Eye of Barrier is destroyed, the gate will open.
The gate is controlled by a tower located not too far away. This tower must be destroyed in order to bring down the gate.
Once inside there are two more gates on either side of the Pyramid, which also have Eye of Barriers (on the left and right side of Pyramid). These must both be destroyed in order to approach the Crystal of Sympathy.
The Crystal of Sympathy is located atop the Pyramid. Up to 5 attacking guild members can approach at once. You must click on the on the crystal and begin gaining sympathy. Gaining full sympathy takes 3 minutes. While gaining sympathy you cannot move, use skills or use healing potions, otherwise you must begin over again.
Successfully gaining full sympathy earns you ownership of the Pyramid. Dratan Castle Siege lasts 2 hours so the Pyramid will undoubtedly change hands several times. Whoever holds full sympathy when time runs out is declared the winner!
The stairs on the two sides of the crystal are no longer safe-zones.This means you can attack and be attacked on them.

Defending
The current owners of the Pyramid take the role of Defenders and have the advantage of setting up Pyramid defenses which come in many forms.
Towers
Towers are one form of defense that the defending guild can employ. Before the Dratan Castle Siege begins, the defending guild's guild master must speak with the Master Tower located outside of the first gate. The Master Tower allows the defendering guild to set up towers. Clicking on other towers as a defender will give you the option of repairing them. Towers can be used for attack, defense, and teleporting and come in 6 different varieties. You get to make upto 1 tower of each type for free, but you can create more for a fee. Attacking Towers Attacking towers (pictured to the right) come in three forms: short distance, long distance, and magic attack. Short distance towers attack enemies near the base of the tower. They are a good place for defending fighters to stand near while holding back those wishing to take the Pyramid. Long range towers attack from afar, but do less damage than the short distance towers. Magic attacking towers are short range towers that attack with magic. These do equal damage to their physical short-distance counterparts. Defending Towers Defending towers (pictured to the right) come in three forms: decrease speed, decrease stats, and posion. Decrease speed towers have medium range and decrease the enemies movement and attack speeds. Decrease stats towers debuff the enemy lower their attack. Poison towers do damage over time to enemies. Warp Towers Warp towers decrease the resurrection time of fallen defenders and allow the defenders to easily move to different sections of the pyramid. Upgrade Towers Upgrade towers give you the ability to upgrade the attacking/defending/warp towers' hit points and increases the strength of the towers' abilities for a fee Repair Tower Repair towers repair the Master Tower. Upgrade Gate Upgrade gates let you upgrade the durability of each gate (the Eye of Barriers mentioned before) making it harder for attackers to take them down. |
Guardians
Guardians are another form of defense available to the defending guild. Guardians are NPC’s that can be purchased before the siege begins. They can be placed anywhere within the Pyramid area except for the top of the Pyramid. These guardians will attack anyone who comes within their range except for defenders and come in two varieties: As a Sphinx Spear Man or a Sphinx Guardian. Both are level 100 creatures and are pictured to the right. You may only have 10 of each kind of guardian. Note: Defenders should know that if the Castle changes hands during the battle, all defenses are handed over to the new owners of the castle including towers and guardians. The holders of Dratan Castle will also control the dungeon located inside the Pyramid, known as the Tomb of Theos (Tomb for short). The owning guild's guild advisors and guild master can set the Tomb's difficulty level, entrance fee, and the amount of gold which is taxed from kills made in the tomb. This money is transferred straight to the owning guild's vault. |
Setting Siege Parameters
Once you have won the siege, the most important part is setting the time for the next siege, this can not be done at any time. The following factors have to apply:
If this is the case, all you have to do is to go to a Siege NPC, in Juno, Dratan or Merac and open up: "Set Siege Time":
- It is the weekend or the monday after the weekend, where you have won the siege,
- Both sieges Dratan and Merac are done.
If this is the case, all you have to do is to go to a Siege NPC, in Juno, Dratan or Merac and open up: "Set Siege Time":
What you need to know:
- you can only choose to have you siege on either saturday or sunday the following weekend,
- the time where you can have the siege starting is limited (as seen in the setting's dialog),
- you can only set the siege for which you are the castle owner.
Preparation for the siege:
- Once you have set the time and day for you siege, you may also want to take a look at your master tower, to check out, what you can do there.
- There are quite a few options, which will help you and your guild in preparation for the siege.
- Please keep in mind that this service is not free, you may have to keep a few millions of spare gold for this.
This is the master towers option's dialog,
All options except "Repair" are explained in more detail below.
|
This is the third option: BARRIER UPGRADE
- By upgrading the levels of the Eye of Barrier, you increase the strength and endurance of it.
Tomb Owners Resetting Guide
Dratan Castle Siege is a contest to decide the owner of the Pyramid which is located in southwestern Dratan. The owners of the Pyramid get to control the settings for the Tomb of Theos of tomb Condition and Management. This page intends to explain the various settings for the Tomb of Theos and how to setting them.
When you as Guild Master (GM) or Guild Advisor (GA) of Tomb owner guild talk to Tomb Guard Atum located just inside the entrance of the Pyramid. A popup window (shown to the right) will appear.
Only the Guild Master or a Guild Advisor of the guild that won the previous Dratan Castle Siege can access the Management option! The first option will allow you to enter the Tomb of Theos (once you pay the entry fee). |
Tomb Condition The second option will show you the current setting of the tomb as shown to the right. The green bar represents the pollution level and the orange bar represents the difficulty level. The lower the pollution level (ie, the longer the green bar), the stonger the abilities of the players are. Despite what the window reads, the lower the difficulty level (ie, the longer the orange bar), the harder the creatures become.Values are represented as a percentage with Low being represented by 0% and High being represented by 100% for both pollution and difficulty. In the example shown, both settings are at 30%. With the passing of every hour (real time), both values decrease by 10%. So one can tell that it has been 3 hours since the last time the Tomb was set to the lowest pollution level and least difficulty. |
Tomb Management Choosing the "Management" option brings up the management window (shown to the right). The management option may only be chosen on the forth subserver of each server group, however, the settings are effective throughout the subservers. Five options are available:
|
Controller Choosing the "Controller" option brings up the controller menu (shown to the right). This is where the pollution level is set. There is a fee to set the pollution level. The first 10% costs 500,000 gold, and each additional 10% costs an extra 500,000 gold. So 10% costs 500,000 gold while 20% costs 1,000,000 gold while 30% costs 1,500,000 gold, etc. Once set, you are returned to the main Tomb entrance window. |
Control of monsters in dungeon Choosing the "Control of monsters in dungeon" option brings up the control of monsters in dungeon menu (shown to the right). This is where the difficulty level is set. There is a fee to set the difficulty level. The first 10% costs 1,000,000 gold, and each additional 10% costs an extra 1,000,000 gold. So 10% costs 1,000,000 gold while 20% costs 2,000,000 gold while 30% costs 3,000,000 gold, etc. Once set, you are returned to the main Tomb entrance window. |
Control of admission fee
Choosing the "Control of admission fee" option brings up the control of admission fee menu (shown to the right). This is where the difficulty level is set. Settings range from 70% all the way up to 150% in steps of 5%. However, there is a bug with the 150% setting so the max is really 145%. Common practice is to set the admission fee to the max -- 145%. The equation below gives the cost to enter the tomb given your character's level, l, and the admission fee, p, as a percent. f(p,l) = 20pl
|
The output is in total gold. So for 70% admission fee and a level 90 character, the fee is: f(70,90) = 20 * 70 * 90 = 126,000 gold.
Once set, you are returned to the main Tomb entrance window.
Once set, you are returned to the main Tomb entrance window.
Control of hunting fee Choosing the "Control of hunting fee" option brings up the control of hunting fee menu (shown to the right). This is where the difficulty level is set. Settings range from 0% all the way up to 20% in steps of 5%. However, there is a bug with the 150% setting so the max is really 145%. Common practice is to set the admission fee to the max -- 145%. Once set, you are returned to the main Tomb entrance window. The gold collected from the Tomb of Theos can be retrieved by talking to the Guild Financial Controller in the Guild Hall. |
