Party
[OLD GUIDE COPY]
A Party is a group of players, that helps them to communicate with each other.
Party and its Bonuses / Advantages:
Party ranks and special privileges:
Party member status and buffs:
Selecting targets and attacking:
Solo party
A solo party is, simply, a party in which all the members stay off each others' radar. Solo parties may be performed with an Equal or a Combat party. They used to give maximum EXP and SP values, nowadays you need a solo fellowship.
Party and its Bonuses / Advantages:
- a party may consist of up to 8 players
- a party increases xp / sp gain (depending on how the party is set)
- a party forms a chat between its members.
Party ranks and special privileges:
- The party leader's name always appears in green on the party list.
- Party members are listed according to the order they joined in.
- When a party leader leaves, their position is automatically given to the party member that has been in the party the longest.
- Party leaders reserve the right to invite new people to the party, kick useless people from the party, assign a new leader, and add/delete the party from the Party Auto Matching list.
- When in a party with random item distribution, if you hop on and off your mount before an item drop, you are more likely to receive it when it gets picked up. This is because you become an entirely new variable when you get on your mount, so the order of distribution becomes mixed up. "New" partymates are more likely to receive drops.
Party member status and buffs:
- All party members appear as golden dots on your map/compass. If a party member is on a different map, you cannot see their dot--even if you switch to that map in your map window. You must be on the same map as him/her to know where he/she is.
- You can only see your partymates' HP and MP status when they are on the same map as you. If you join a party and are on a different map, your HP and MP will appear to be stuck in the spots they were at your time of joining. So if soloing, try to join parties when you have full (or nearly full) HP and MP so you will not cause your partymates concern.
- When a partymate on another map levels up, their HP and MP bars will jump up to full regardless of where they appeared to be before.
- You can see your partymate's buffs by hovering over the small "person" icon to the right of their name on the party list. Please note that this only works when your partymates are within your compass range.
- Horsebuffs only work on party members within the small, innermost circle on your compass. So stick together!
Selecting targets and attacking:
- You can select a party member by clicking their name on your party list on the left side of the screen. This is faster and easier than trying to find their character and click on it. For party leaders, this is the best way to assign another person as party lead because it may be used cross-map.
- You may acquire another party member's target by right-clicking their name on your party list on the left side of the screen. This allows you to come to your partymate's aid faster.

Party Auto Matching
The party auto matching icon is a new feature and by far the most helpful. What does this funny little thing do?
It allows you to:
This feature works cross-map, meaning that you don't have to be on the same map as the players you choose to party with. This helps save time and headaches for players who need a party.
Here's a detailed guide on how to use this awesome feature.
It allows you to:
- Register your name and preferred party type on to the list of available party-seeking players.
- View the list of available member-seeking parties, where their leader is located, and the party type they are.
- Register your party on to the list of available member-seeking parties.
- Invite players from the list of available party-seeking players to join your party.

To start off, you must open the party menu by hitting ALT+G or G, then click the Party Auto Matching icon. That will open up this screen.
As you can see, there are four different options (not including Cancel) to choose from.
For now, let's assume you are not in a party, but you would like to register your name on to the available party-seeking member list in the hopes that someone will invite you to a party. To do this, select option 1. The following screen will pop up: |
This screen is asking you what type of party you would prefer. An equal party so you can solo with anyone? Or perhaps you'd like a combat party so you can party with people around your level?
The party type you pick will determine the party type that you end up joining. If you select an equal party, then anyone else looking for an equal party may invite you to party with them, or any existing equal party that sees your name may invite you to join them. You cannot be invited to a party type that you are not registered for.
After registering, this screen will pop up to confirm that your name has been added to the list of available party-seeking players.

To view the list of available party-seeking members, select option two. It will open a very large window with detailed information about all the people who are currently looking for parties.
As you can see, the list gives the names of the available members, their location (map, not coordinates), their character class, and the type of party they are looking for. Anyone with a 'II' symbol is within your level range.
To party with one of the people on the list, select their name and click the "Invite" button at the bottom of the window. I suggest Private Messaging the person you want to party with before you invite them, just to make sure they're looking for the same kind of party you are. (In the past, I've had some players become angry with me for inviting them to a general solo party instead of a general fighting party.)
To view the list of available member-seeking parties, select option 3. It will bring up the following window.

This list gives the names of the available parties, the number of players in the party, the leader's location (map, not coordinates), the character classes the party is looking for, and the party type. Any party with a 'II' symbol means that the party's leader is within your level range. To join a party on this list, select their name and click the "Apply" button. A message will pop up on the party leader's screen telling them that you want to join.
To remove your registration information from the list of available party-seeking members, select option 4. It will give you the message:

Now let's assume that you are the leader of a party and you want to register your party on to the list of available member-seeking parties. How do you do this? Well, just like you register yourself on to the available party-seeking member, you have to start off by selecting option 1. This will make the following window pop up.
In this window you, as party leader, must input a name for your party, choose which character classes you want to allow to join your party, and select whether or not you want to put a level restriction on players who might apply. Leaving the class selection unchecked will result in adding all classes to the list. If you choose to put a level restriction on, then only players within your level range will be allowed to join.
|
Here's an example of a completed party registration window. As you can see, I've input a party name and checked all the character class boxes so people of any class will be able to join. I did not check the level limit box because it's a solo party, so there's no need to cut out people of a lower/higher level than mine.
I suggest only checking the level limit box if your party members are going to all be fighting together in one area. |
To invite new members to your party, you can select option 2 and view the list of available party-seeking players. Select the name of a player you want to invite and click the "Invite" button at the bottom of the window. The player will receive a message asking them to confirm or cancel your invitation to join your party.
If you ever get a full party of 8 people, your party will stay registered, but in Party List it will be shown as full (8/8). After someone leaves, the party will be automatically open for more members to join.
To remove your party from the list of available member-seeking parties, select option 4. You will get a message confirming that registration information has been removed.
