Upgrading
Base defense or attack of an item can be improved by upgrading, which is often called plussing. Upgraded equipment gets special bonuses and visual effects. Weapons and armor can be upgraded permanently up to +30 and temporary (with Platinum Refining Stones) even up to +31.
To upgrade your equipment, you will need Upgrade Stones. Those can be obtained in the game itself as monsters drops, event and quest prizes or purchased in the Item Mall.
How to upgradeTo upgrade, you must have both the upgrade stone you want to use and the equipment piece you want to upgrade in your inventory. You can only upgrade items that are equipped - you cannot upgrade pieces that are different class or too high level for you to wear.
The upgrade window will pop up, looking something like the ones below: |
This is the upgrade window you will get if your item is in the safezone. The safezone is the number of +'s you are allowed to go to without risking having your equipment break. The safezone depends on the type of stone you use. For example for Heaven Stones grade 1 the safezone is +3, upgrading from +3 to +4 and beyond might result in breaking the item. The higher grade the Heaven Stone is, the higher it can upgrade without break (for more info check the HS success rates page). The example item, War Blade, is currently +0, so there is no risk of breaking - only of no change. |
If the item you are upgrading is past the safezone, the window displayed on the left will show up. The upgrade message has changed and you are now being warned that item might be destroyed and there is no way to reverse it! To protect your item from breaking either upgrade with stones which have 100% success chance or use Runes of Protection. |
Applying the upgrade stone has four possible outcomes:
