Pets
[OLD GUIDE COPY]
A pet is, simply, a NPC companion that you have control over (to a certain extent). Pets are there to assist and occasionally even protect you as you hunt. There are currently two types of pets: [P1] and [P2] pets.
While you may have up to many pets in inventory, you may only equip one. Unmounted horses and drakes are visible only when you are out of town. Mounted horses and drakes are visible in town as well. P2 pets are visible both in and out of town, but unless the P2 pet is mounted they will disappear while moving. Pets can be trained while in the dungeons -- personal and public -- with their passive skills (if applicable) benefiting you.
Below is a basic comparison between the two type of pets:

Pet Names
So, you want to name your pet?
Well here's how to do it! First, you must get a Pet Name Tag. As of right now, Pet Name Tags can only be gotten from the Item Mall. Once you have a name tag, equip your pet and double-click on the tag's icon in your inventory. The window on the right will pop up. If you want to continue to the naming screen, select "Yes." If you are not sure what you want to name your pet, select "No." If you say "Yes," then this window will come up next. Into the text area, type in the name you want your pet to have. You may use letters, numbers, and special symbols. But whatever you use, it must be one whole word--that means no spaces. Once you are sure you have the name you want, hit the "Confirm" button. After your pet is named it will keep that name forever. If you wish to change your pet's name, you will have to use another Pet Name Tag on it. Keep in mind that once a name is used, it may never be reused or duplicated by anyone else. If you name a pet "Spot" it will always be the one and only Spot. If someone else wishes to also name their pet Spot, they will have to use a variation of the name, like "Spot2" or "mySpot." Mount names do not show up because once you mount a pet, its name becomes that of the person riding it. If I named my knightmare "Poofy," whenever I rode it it would still show only my character's name above the knightmare. The name of a mounted pet will be visible to its owner in the pet's status window, but nowhere else. Below are two example pictures: |
