Powders and minerals
[OLD GUIDE COPY]
When you process raw materials you will sometimes end up with "leftovers." These leftovers come in the form of powders. There are four types of powder:
- Processing stones will give you Physical Attack Powder and Physical Defense Powder.
- Processing energy will give you Magical Attack Powder and Magical Defense Powder.
- Processing herbs will give you Physical Defense Powder and Magical Defense Powder.
You can only receive the powders when you process materials with manuals. Master of Processing Materials won't give you powders.
The powders that are left over from processing attempts may be used to create minerals. Minerals are things you may use to temporarily increase your attack and defense stats. There are four different types of minerals and fourteen different levels of each type. The higher the level, the better a stat boost you'll get from the mineral.
To create minerals, you must buy a Power Box from the general merchant NPC. In Randol, that NPC is Merchant Geres. The box will require you to mix a powder, an accessory, and a smelting stone. The box's instructions call the smelt a "refining stone," but that's actually a totally different item.
The powder type will determine what mineral type you get, the level of the smelting stone relates to the level of mineral you get, and so far the accessory type used seems to have no effect on the resulting mineral.

The above numbers shown in grey are projected values. They will be checked when possible. The pattern appears to be that for powders level 11 and lower, a level x power will come from smelting stones in the level range: 5*( x - 1 ) to 5*x . And a level 12 power will come from smelting stones level 56 and higher.
