P1 Pets
There are two types of P1-Pets: horses and dragons.
Pet Menu
You can access pet menu by pressing P or Alt+P. It gives you the following information:
You can also see the health (red bar) and hunger (yellow bar) levels in a small window that appears on the screen when you equip the pet. |
Health, Hunger and Sympathy
Your pet's health, hunger, and sympathy may all be raised by feeding it raw materials. Different raw materials raise the different stats by different amounts.
To feed a raw material to your pet:
Health
Your pet has 100 health points total. The red bar on your pet's status menu displays what percent of 100 health points your pet has. When the red bar is full, your pet is completely healed up and ready to face anything. When the red bar is empty, your pet will die. Don't let that happen!
Your pet's Health can be recovered with herbs. There are five different kinds of herbs and each kind heals your pet a different amount. Three of them can be obtained through herb harvesting, the other two are sold by Affinity Merchant. You can also heal your pet fast by using Potion of Pet Healing. They used to be available in the Item Mall, but nowadays they became rare.
To feed a raw material to your pet:
- make sure your pet is equipped
- double-click on the raw material's icon in your inventory

Herb type | Health restored | Where to get |
---|---|---|
Yellow Herb Leaf | 1 health point | Herb harvesting |
Herb Trunk | 3 health points | Herb harvesting |
Green Herb Leaf | 5 health points | Herb harvesting |
Herb Thorn | 7 health points | Randol Knights Affinity |
Herb Flower | 9 health points | Randol Knights Affinity |
Potion of Pet Healing | 30 health points | Lucky Pet Draw Box |
Pets can be damaged by monsters (if they are aggressive vs pets) as well as other players. Each attack on a pet will remove 1 health point. Even though 100 health points are a lot to burn through when the pet is only being damaged one at a time, you still need to watch its health carefully. Some monster types will gang up on pets, making its health drop faster than you can blink.
Only unmounted pets may receive damage. Mounts will not lose health unless you die while riding them (which kills the mount as well). Every time your pet levels up it will receive a full bar of health. If you see that your pet is about to gain a level, it's wisest to save your herbs and let your pet get auto-healed.
Hunger
Your pet has 100 hunger points total. The yellow bar on your pet's status menu displays what percent of 100 hunger points your pet has. When the yellow bar is full, your pet is totally stuffed (not hungry). When the yellow bar is empty, your pet is starving. If your pet reaches 0 hunger, it will stop moving and its sympathy for you will begin dropping fast. Both unmounted and mounted pets will get hungry. Fortunately, that will only happen when outside town.
Your pet's hunger can be increased with stones. There are five different kinds of stones and each kind feeds your pet a different amount. Three of them can be obtained through stone mining, the other two are sold by Affinity Merchant.
Stone type | Hunger restored | Where to get |
---|---|---|
Flawed Stone | 1 hunger point | Stone mining |
Imperfect Stone | 3 hunger points | Stone mining |
Quality Stone | 5 hunger points | Stone mining |
Flawless Stone | 7 hunger points | Burbank Affinity |
Perfect Stone | 9 hunger points | Burbank Affinity |
If the pet is the same level as you or lower, its hunger will decrease by 1 point every 5 minutes. If it is higher level, its hunger will start decreasing much faster. The number of hunger points your pet will lose every 5 minutes depends on the level difference between your pet and your character. It can be calculated with the formula:
where: H - number of hunger points the pet will lose every 5 minutes, L - level difference between pet and owner and the scary-looking brackets mean that the result should be rounded up to the closest whole number.
For example, if the pet is 10 levels higher than the owner, it will lose 6 hunger points: 10*0.5+0.5=5.5 and rounded up to 6.
Sympathy
Your pet's sympathy determines the degree to which it is willing to help you out with its skills. For example, let's pretend that you have a level 2 pet and have taught it level 1 of the unmounted skill called Increased Armor. At 100% sympathy, your pet will give you the entire extra 20 physical defense points that level 1 of that skill is supposed to add. If your pet only has 60% sympathy, though, then you will get only 12 extra physical defense points. If your pet has 10% sympathy, you'll get 2 extra physical defense points. Because of this, sympathy becomes a very important factor once your pet learns skills.
Your pet's sympathy can be increased with energy. There are five different kinds of energy and each kind raises your pet's sympathy a different amount. Three of them can be obtained through energy absorption, the other two are sold by Affinity Merchant.

Epsilon Wave Energy | 3 sympathy points | Energy absorption |

Alpha Wave Energy | 9 sympathy points | Mazar Affinity |
All pets start out with 50% sympathy. For every 5 minutes that you spend outside of town with your pet equipped, its sympathy will automatically go up 1 point. If you have two pets, the sympathy of the unequipped pet will go down 1 point for every 30 minutes that you spend outside of town with the other pet equipped. Sympathy levels will not change while you are inside town.
PEt LEvelS and EXP Gain
Just like your character, horses and dragons will only level if they have gained enough experience. Your pet gains 1 EXP point every 3.5 seconds that you spend in combat using normal attacks on non-blue monsters. Normal attacks are the ones you automatically do when you attack a monster. Attacks that consume mana are considered "special" attacks and will not earn your pet any EXP. So even if you do a lot of fighting but your pet still doesn't seem to be leveling up any, maybe you should check and make sure that you're actually using normal attacks.
Your pet won't get EXP when:
Make sure to watch its health and hunger as you fight. As soon as the health hits 0 your pet will die and become sealed; as soon as the hunger hits 0 your pet will stop moving. If your pet is not equipped, you can equip it by opening your inventory, finding your pet's icon, and double-clicking it. If your pet is "lost" or has gotten left behind, you can either unequip and re-equip it, or summon it by using the Pet summon command.
Like your EXP, the EXP your pet needs to gain each new level continually increases. Fortunately, pet EXP does not go up at as steep a rate as our characters' EXP does. The highest P1 pet level is 100.
Your pet won't get EXP when:
- it's dead (0 health)
- it's starved (0 hunger)
- it's not equipped
- it's out of range or "lost"
- you're killing blue monsters
- it's mounted

You can check your pet's EXP amount in the Pet Menu (P, Alt+P).
Here's a helpful equation for calculating the real time (in minutes) it will take your pet to level:
Divide the result by 60 to get the number of hours.
For example: you want to train your pony from lvl 2 to lvl 3. It will take: 712*3.5/60 = 41.5 minutes
Pet leveling
The fastest way to gain pet EXP is through pet leveling - a special form of combat in which the pet earns experience as fast as possible. Since P1 pets gain experience depending on the amount of time spent in combat, combats must be prolonged to earn the pet the maximum amount of EXP possible in a given amount of time. You can achieve that by using low level unplussed weapon and avoiding any attack boosts. 1 hour of continuous fighting equals 1028 pet experience points.

Pet leveling tips:
- AFK pet leveling is bannable! So stay at your keyboard and be prepared to answer the GM, if they whisper you.
- you have to actually hit the monsters to gain pet EXP - if you miss too much, find some hit rate accessories
- stay on non-pvp servers
- one of the most popular P1 pet leveling spots are the Flowers of Desert in Dratan. They are level 185 and easily reached with Dratan NPC Scroll. Wafes in that area are passive and won't attack you. Watch out for boss hunters! If they spawn Muta, you better keep your distance.
- if you use Pet Fairy, you can level a P1 pet the same way P2 pets do. Transfer your P1 pet into the Pet Fairy, select it for training and go kill monsters while having P2 pet equipped. Your P1 will receive 10% of your P2 pet's experience. If you one-hit the mobs, this way of leveling is much faster than classical pet leveling. The monsters you kill have to be at least level 50 for the pet in Fairy to receive any EXP at all. The P1 pet experience is not boosted by potions or events when training this way.
Boosting pet experience
There are currently two different pet EXP boosters available for P1 pets:
The potions cannot be used together, but they will both stuck with Pet Experience Events - their bonus is multiplied by the event. So using the Platinum Pet Experience Potion during 300% Pet EXP event will give you the maximum of 900% EXP boost.
Pet Training
With each Level, your pet will receive a technical point (TP). They are needed to learn new skills, which can offer you either in combat protection or increase your attack power.
You can train your pet at Animal Trainer Noom in Randol, Juno. He's next to the fountain (red dot on the map).

Choose 'Pet Training' option. A pet training window appears:
There are two kinds of abilities you can train:
To find out more about skills, check Dragon and Horse pages. |
Resetting P1 skills You can reset and redistribute your pet's skills at any time you choose and for free too! To have the skills reset, all you need to do is go talk to the Animal Trainer Noom. Choose 'Reset Skills' option, the window in the right will pop up. Here, the Animal Trainer explains that by resetting your pet's skills you can trade it or sell it, or just redistribute the points into different categories. Choose 'Reset Pet Skills' option to finish the process. |
Actions
Besides skills, there are different actions available for each P1 pet. These can all be found in your Action, Social menu, which may be accessed by hitting T or Alt+T. You can use them directly from the menu or drag them to the shortcut bar.
Unmounted pet actions | |
---|---|
Summon | Summons equipped pet to your location. This action has the same result as unequipping and re-equipping the pet, but it's faster. Works best for "finding" your pet when they've been left behind, or when they get stuck on something. |
Item pickup | Certainly your pet's best ability! This command lets your pet pick up the drops of the monsters in your area, if they have been slain by you. If you leave this task to your pet, you can continue to fight without being constantly stopped by the picking up. |
Mounted pet actions | |
---|---|
Village return | Instantly teleports you back to the nearest town on the map for free. It has the same effect as Recall Scroll, but much faster. |
Pet resting | Did you know you can "sit" while riding a mount? A "sitting" knightmare will have its head down, and a "sitting" dragon will land and fold its wings in. If your mount is sitting, your HP and MP will recharge much faster than if you just "stand" on the mount. |
Speed Move | Increases or decreases your pet's movement speed. Just like the walk action but for your pet! |
Mount TrainingPets can become mounts any time after they have reached level 31. To turn your pet into a mount, go to the Animal Trainer and second select option - 'Mount Training'.
Once mounted, your pet will cease to gain EXP. You will lose all your unmounted pet's passive skills and will have to redistribute the pet's TP into its mount skills. Some people mount their pets as soon as they turn level 31, while others choose to wait a bit longer. The level at which your pet becomes a mount determines how many Technical Points you will have to distribute among your pet's new mount skills. Look at which skills you'd like your mount to have and count up the required number of Technical Points. Then train your pet to a level that is one above the amount of Technical Points you will need. |
If you decide to 'Train pet to be a mount', a confirmation window will pop up:
This is a safety net to prevent curious people from accidentally mounting a pet they did not want to. If you are absolutely sure that you are ready to turn your pet into a mount, select 'Confirm'. If you decide not to mount your pet, hit 'Cancel'. If you chose to 'Confirm' the last window, your pet will be made into a mount. Your character will appear sitting on it. Congratulations on your new mount!
How to unmount P1 pet
Did you know that you can retrain a mounted pet to turn it back into an unmounted pet? To do this, you need to buy a Pet Mount Retraining Card from the Item Mall. They are tradeable with Merchant profession.

Did you know that you can retrain a mounted pet to turn it back into an unmounted pet? To do this, you need to buy a Pet Mount Retraining Card from the Item Mall. They are tradeable with Merchant profession.
Once you have the card, reset your mount skills at Animal Trainer and then drag your mount's icon from the inventory into the little box in the middle of the message window. Check to make sure that you've got the right pet in there. Then hit the 'Yes' button.
After clicking on the 'Yes' button, you will get a confirmation window as seen on the right side of here. After confirming the mount pet retraining, your pet will instantly be changed back to an unmount pet. Keep in mind that your pet will loose it's name, color and patterns from the Customization Cards.
Reviving
When your pet dies, it becomes sealed, meaning that you can no longer equip it. But don't worry, you can simply resurrect it! There are two ways of doing it: wait till the pet is released or pay the Animal Trainer to do the job.
Every time a pet dies, it's given a revive timer, which only counts down while you're actively fighting. Once the timer gets to 0, the pet will be automatically revived. You can see how much time has left before release when you mouse over pet's icon in inventory (see the left picture). The times vary from 5 to 17 hours, depending on the pet's level. If you don't want to wait, go talk to Animal Trainer Noom. Choose fifth option - 'Release Sealed Pet'. It will open another window (see the right picture). Drag and drop the icon of your deceased pet here. Once you've placed the sealed pet in the box, the amount of gold you must pay to have it released will show up. The fee depends on the pet's level. The higher the level, the higher the price of the revival. After you click the 'Confirm' button at the bottom of the window, your pet will be instantly revived. A revived horse or drake will have 30/100 health. You'll have to get some herbs and heal it just a little more yourself to get it back into tip-top shape. |
The tables below show how much gold must be paid to revive a pet at each level. A column showing the amount of time that is on a pet's revive timer is also included. Keep in mind that the timer is in real-time.
Note: the tables are based on old guide.

Harvesting pet componentsYou can sacrifice your P1 pet to get pet components at the animal trainer. The higher the pet's level, the more chance you have of getting a part. Some parts are rarer than others. These pet parts are used for making horse armor or a dragon weapon, as well as certain components being used in the Ichi and Scra-Chi pet quests.
If you decided to butcher your pet, go visit the Animal Trainer Noom. At this point, CHECK if you have equipped the pet you want to sacrifice. BE SURE YOU DON'T HAVE YOUR MOUNTED PET EQUIPPED! Choose third option - 'Harvest Pet Component' and then 'Sacrifice Pet'. A confirmation window will pop up: |
Push 'Confirm' and it will be done. Most of the time you will get the failure message since the chance of successfully sacrificing your pet is very low. Sometimes you will get lucky and the success message will show. If you want to know what part you harvest, check your inventory or your system message window.
To find out more about pet parts and crafting with them check the Pet parts equipment page.
NOTE: Nowadays you can get pet components without killing any cute pets! Just open some Butcher Boxes - they can be found in Oscar Material Pocket's or won in Laca Ball.
