Socketing items
Before you can insert jewels into your gear, you need to create sockets. Any armor or weapon (except Knightmare Armor and Dragon Weapons) and accessory can be socketed, provided that it doesn't have sockets already. Such items will have "Socket Processing Available" message displayed in the equipment info window:
The number of sockets you get is random:
- The lowest amount of sockets you may get at any time is 2: 1 general socket and 1 chaos socket.
- The highest amount of sockets on any item is 7: 6 general sockets and 1 chaos socket.
- On your gear, the chaos socket will always be the first socket displayed. In the melding window it will always be the center jewel socket.
Socketing
Sockets are added to your gear with socketing scrolls. There are a variety of scrolls with different success rates and different socketing potential (i.e. how many sockets they will give). The table below lists the available scrolls by name, indicates their level, shows where they may be obtained, and their cost at the NPC, if applicable. The higher the level of the scroll, the greater the probability of successfully adding sockets and the greater the possible number of sockets your gear will get.
Name | Level | Where to get | NPC price |
---|---|---|---|
Tattered Scroll | 1 | Socket Manger, Affinity Systems | 1 000 |
Mediocre Scroll | 2 | Socket Manger, Affinity Systems | 100 000 |
Average Scroll | 3 | Socket Manger, Affinity Systems | 1 000 000 |
Elegant Scroll | 4 | Item Mall | 199 IC in Item Mall |
Sublime Scroll | 5 | Item Mall | 299 IC in Item Mall |
Legendary Scroll | 6 | Item Mall, Moonstleft Golem, Laca Ball | 499 IC in Item Mall |
Once a scroll is in your inventory, take it to the Socket Manager and choose 'Socket Items' option. You will get following pop up:
Place the item you want to socket in the top left box and the socketing scroll in the right box. Press 'Socket ' and once the progress bar reaches 100%, the number of created sockets will be displayed. In the example above 4 sockets were created.
Resocketing
Once your gear is socketed, you cannot socket it again, unless you reset the sockets by using a Socket Reset Card . Simply double click the card in your inventory and drag the piece, on which you want to reset sockets, into the box:
All of the sockets are destroyed and you may socket your gear once again. Please keep in mind, that next try might not always be as successful and you may end up with even less sockets.
Warning: Using Socket Reset Card will destroy all the jewels melded to gear. Remove them first!
Safe-Socket-Scroll
Safe-Socket-Scroll will add guaranteed +1 socket to a socketed gear piece, weapon or accessory - the maximum of 7 can't be exceeded. Melded jewels are preserved, you don't have to remove them!
To use the Safe-Socket-Scroll, double-click on the item in your inventory and drag the gear, weapon or accessory you wish to gain the socket for into the box. Confirm with "Yes" and the new socket is created.
The Safe-Socket-Scrolls are available in Item Mall during special promotions. They are tradeable / storable with Merchant Profession only!
